Social services for Nazi victims have been supported by a grant from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
Funds have been provided by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany for the Emergency Assistance Program for Nazi Victims at the direction of the United States District Court supervising the lawsuit In RE: Holocaust Victim Assets Litigation (Swiss Banks).

The entire Greek State, Greek Jewry and society paid tribute to the victims of the Holocaust on January 27, 2022, the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, stating their determination to combat anti-Semitism and any form of racism, as well as their commitment to the preservation of Memory.

Messages were posted by the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Education, political parties, as well as mayors throughout Greece. Messages were also issued by the Greek Presidency of IHRA, the Embassy of Israel to Greece and the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece.
The Hellenic Parliament and the City Hall of Athens were illuminated on January 26th and 27th 2022 participating in the international We Remember remembrance campaign, conveying an important message of information and awareness of society. In addition
, the Hellenic Parliament observed a minute of silence as a tribute to the memory of the Holocaust victims. Speeches on the significance of the day were delivered the Parliament’s Vice President Nikitas Kaklamanis and representatives of the political parties.

The Greek Ministry of Education, with a circular letter to all schools of Greece, suggested a 2hour program dedicated to educational activities on the theme of the Holocaust to be conducted January 27. The Jewish Museum of Greece distributed educational material to schools and educators around Greece and promoted digital exhibitions and international initiatives related to the preservation of Holocaust memory.

Although EU Vice-President Margaritis Schinas participated in many online European actions, he chose to send his message from Greece and participated by physically attending the event of the Jewish Community of Athens on January 27, 2022, and was the keynote speaker at the event in Thessaloniki on January 30, 2022.

Remembrance events were organized by the Regions and the local Jewish Communities throughout Greece and specifically in Athens, Thessaloniki, Larissa, Volos, Trikala, Ioannina, Chalkis, but also in cities where there are no Communities such as Kavala and Chania, always observing the sanitation measures to limit the spread of the pandemic.

In Athens -in the presence of the President of the Republic K. Sakellaropoulou, the Deputy Prime Minister P. Pikrammenos, who was also the keynote speaker, the Minister of Education N. Kerameos, the Mayor of Athens K. Bakoyannis and of other dignitaries- the event included awarding the EU Vice-President Margaritis Schinas for the adoption of the EU strategy for the fight against Anti-Semitism, wreath laying at the Holocaust Memorial and a video projection for the creation of the Monument.

In Thessaloniki, the event began on Sunday morning 30.1.22, at the Holocaust Memorial, with speaker the EU Vice-President Margaritis Schinas, while the same evening a concert by the internationally renowned violinist Gil Saham and the Thessaloniki State Orchestra took place at the city's Concert Hall. Since 25.1.2022, the co-capital commemorated the Holocaust as giant posters dedicated to the Remembrance Day and the concert, with the We Remember logo, adorned characteristic parts of the city, such as the façade of the Town Hall, the Concert Hall, and the International Exhibition of Thessaloniki. At the same time, the TV100 Municipal Television of Thessaloniki broadcasted the We Remember logo throughout its program on January 27, 2022.

In Larissa, the event took place on January 27.1.22 at the Holocaust Memorial in the Square of Jewish Martyrs and with the participation of the authorities, schools and students, and included a memorial service, candle lighting, poem recitation and the laying of wreaths.

In Ioannina on 27.1.22, on the initiative of the President of the Municipal Regional Theatre of Ioannina and the Regional Directorate of Education of Epirus, the students of the 7th Lyceum of Ioannina watched the "The boy in the striped pajama" film by John Boyne, directed by Mark Herman, in a city theater.

The official event of Ioannina took place on Saturday, January 29, 2022, without audience, and it was live streamed through the You Tube channel of the Municipality of Ioannina. It included addresses from officials, a classical music program, and a keynote speech by journalist and writer Thanasis Yialketsis, on the subject: "The memory of evil as antidote to hatred and indifference". You can watch it at the link below:

In Trikala, the event took place on 23.1.22, in the presence of the local authorities, and included the laying of wreaths at the Holocaust Memorial and a memorial service by the Rabbi of Larissa.

In Chalkis, on January 28, the President and members of the Jewish Community paid tribute to the Holocaust victims with a wreath laying ceremony at the Holocaust Monument. They symbolically placed signs with the We Remember logo at the busts of wartime Metropolitan Bishop Grigorios and war hero colonel Mordechai Frizis, situated next to the Holocaust Monument. 

In Kavala, on January 27, 2022, the mayor and representatives of the Municipality of Kavala placed flowers on the Holocaust Monument of the city, as a symbolic action of remembrance. On the same day, the documentary “The Holocaust of the Jews of Kavala” was presented to the students of the 4th High School and the 2nd Lyceum of Kavala, in the presence of the Mayor, the President of the city’s committee for the secondary education, and Mr. Fikos Mevorach, a Jewish writer originating from Kavala.

In Volos, the event will begin in the morning of February 6, 2022, with the laying of wreaths at the Holocaust Memorial and in the afternoon, at 18.30, the online section will begin. You can watch it at the link below

In addition to the authorities, the 2nd Model High School of Volos will participate in the event, whose students will read poems, while the school's director Apostolos Zacharos will present an unknown aspect of the Holocaust that unfolded in Syki on March 27, 1944. The keynote speaker will be assistant professor of the University of Macedonia and author, Stratos Dordanas who will speak on "The escrow holders of Jewish property, as an aspect of the genocidal mechanism".

In Chania, Crete, the event will take place on February 5, 2022, in collaboration with the Antiregion of Chania and the Etz Hayim Synagogue. It will include speeches and wreath laying at the Monument of the victims of Tanais.
