The case against representatives of Greek Jewry that was set to be heard in court today has been adjourned until the 21st of February 2012. The trial was postponed because the defense attorney of one of the accused, the representative of Greek Helsinki Monitor Panagiote Dimitras, was unable to attend.
Official representatives of Greek Jewry, Moses Constantinis, former President of the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece (KIS Greece); Benjamin Albalas, President of the Jewish Community of Athens; Abraham Reitan, former General Secretary of KIS Greece; and Leon Gavriilides, former director of KIS Greece are charged with wrongful accusation and libellous defamation against K. Plevris, who filed suit against them.
The Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece once again expresses sorrow at this trial which has brought about a complete reversal in the roles of private individuals and given legal coverage to the views of those who yearn for a return of Nazism, and has made it unjust and criminal to seek investigation through legal trial and official condemnation of dangerous and extreme acts and expressions of racism.
