Social services for Nazi victims have been supported by a grant from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
Funds have been provided by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany for the Emergency Assistance Program for Nazi Victims at the direction of the United States District Court supervising the lawsuit In RE: Holocaust Victim Assets Litigation (Swiss Banks).

GREEK GOVERNMENT & POLITICAL PARTIES CONDEMN THE DESECRATION OF THE ATHENS HOLOCAUST MONUMENT Print E-mail

Greek political parties issued statements condemning the desecration of the Holocaust Monument in Athens, which occurred on October 30. 2014:
- In a statement, the Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Socialit party of PASOK Evangelos Venizelos pledged that the authorities will do everything in their power to arrest the perpetrators. Mr. Venizelos spoke of a "barbaric act" that "offends the history of not only the Jewish community but the entire Greek people" who respects and honors the memory of the tens of thousands of Greek Jews, who were tragically killed in the Nazi concentration camps during the Holocaust.

- The Minister of Public Order Vassilis Kikilias, in his statement said: "I want to condemn this heinous act and to emphasize that the state will show no tolerance for those who insult the memory of thousands of our fellow citizens who lost their lives during the Holocaust”.
- The spokeswoman of the New Democracy governing party, Anne-Michelle Asimakopoulou stated: "We condemn unequivocally the desecration of the Holocaust Monument in Athens by extreme neo-Nazi elements. This cowardly act is an insult to the memory of sixty thousand Greek Jews who perished in the Nazi camps. We are confident that the authorities will do whatever it takes to apprehend and punish the perpetrators."

- The Press Office of the main Opposition Party (SYRIZA) issued the following announcement: "The desecration of the Holocaust Monument in Athens affects the Greek society and the memory of the tens of thousands of Greek Jews who died in concentration camps.We must create a wall against the resurgence of anti-Semitism and fascism which put in danger the whole Europe".

- The Democratic Left Party (DIMAR) asked from the Government “to take all the necessary measures in order such acts, which poison the Greek society with anti-Semitism and racism, not to be repeated”. 

- The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) stated: “Such acts cannot impede the young generation from being aware of the truth about the Nazi crimes. Society must strengthen its fight for the isolation of Nazism”.  
 
- “The desecration of the Holocaust Monument in Athens is condemned. These acts help all those who preach hate and undermine the coherence of the Greek society”, declared the Ministry of Education.

- The Jewish Community of Thessaloniki issued a Press Release to strongly condemn this act which “not only insults the memory of the six million Jews of Europe and the 60.000 of Greek Jews who perished during the Holocaust, but also all those who survived, returned to Greece and rebuilt their lives over the ashes of War”.
