Social services for Nazi victims have been supported by a grant from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
Funds have been provided by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany for the Emergency Assistance Program for Nazi Victims at the direction of the United States District Court supervising the lawsuit In RE: Holocaust Victim Assets Litigation (Swiss Banks).

SIGNING OF THE PRESIDENTIAL DECREE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE HOLOCAUST MUSEUM OF GREECE Print E-mail

The President of the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki and President of the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece, Mr. David Saltiel, expresses his deep satisfaction with the success of the efforts made by the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki, and the friendly and fruitful  cooperation with the President and CEO of Gaiaose SA Mr Athanassios Schizas and the Mayor of Thessaloniki Mr Yannis Boutaris, for the construction of the Holocaust Museum of Greece in the place of the Old Railway Station of Thessaloniki.

The Presidential Decree that has been signed on 29 December 2017 and published in the Official Government Gazette (issue no 293) paves the way for the realization of this important project. The Museum that will be constructed in the city of Thessaloniki, whose 50,000 citizens were exterminated in the Nazi camps, will serve as a continuous reminder of the consequences of the prevalence of racism and intolerance, as a memorial of the Holocaust, as a place of defense and promotion of human rights and fundamental freedoms of humankind and as a place of peaceful coexistence for all people.
