UNESCO CHIEF ‘DEPLORES’ PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY’S WESTERN WALL PROPOSAL, RESOLUTION RESCINDED - THE REACTIONS OF WORLD JEWRY Print E-mail
Wednesday, 21 October 2015 09:49

The Palestinian Authority on Tuesday night rescinded their proposal to declare the Western Wall part of the great Muslim Al Aqsa mosque, Carmel Shama Hacohen, Israel’s Permanent Representative to the OECD, told Israel Radio.

UNESCO chief Irina Bokova on Tuesday expressed concern over the draft resolution in which member states Algeria, Egypt, Kuwait, Morocco, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates declare that “the Buraq Plaza (their name for the Western Wall) is an integral part of the Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al-Sharif.”

“She deplores the recent proposals under discussion by the UNESCO executive board that could be seen to alter the status of the Old City of Jerusalem and its walls, inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage list, and that could further incite tensions,” Bokova’s spokesperson said in a statement, adding, “The director-general appeals to the UNESCO executive board to take decisions that do not further inflame tensions on the ground and that encourage respect for the sanctity of the holy sites.”

ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE NEW BLOODSHED IN THE MIDDLE EAST Print E-mail
Monday, 03 August 2015 11:38
The Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece expresses the repudiation of the Greek Jewry and condemns the arson attack carried out by Israeli extremists against two houses of Palestinians, an attack that resulted into the tragic death of an innocent baby and the serious injury of the parents.

We are confident that following immediate condemnation of this terrorist act by the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and in accordance to his orders the Israeli authorities will trace down and apprehend the terrorists and will bring them to justice.
Grief over the unjust loss of innocent lives is common for all people who stand against hatred and terror regardless of skin colour, ethnic origins or religion. During this period we all have the obligation –Jews, Christians and Muslims alike- to stand together and pray for the bloodshed to stop and for a just and lasting peace to be achieved in order to safeguard the peaceful coexistence of Israelis and Palestinians in two states for two people.

WHEN HATRED OUTWEIGHS RESOLVE Print E-mail

By  Victor Isaak Eliezer*

In the merciless war that Hamas is waging to obliterate Israel, two aims have been achieved.

The first is that it has repelled every possibility of a solution that foresees two countries for the two peoples. No Israeli government, left or right wing, would agree to the creation of a Palestinian state with Hamas at the helm of developments, the reason being that although missiles launched from Gaza pose a threat to the safety of Israeli citizens in southern and central Israel, missiles launched by Palestinians from the cities of Ramallah and Jericho could lead to the country disintegrating amidst violence and would make its citizens hostages without hope of release.

Yet the worst crime that Hamas has committed is against the Palestinian people themselves. It seems that hatred of Israel outweighs every resolve to build an independent Palestinian state next to it.
